After two months of pre term labor and pain and frustration, the day finally arrived. Kelly began having good contractions around 2:00 pm Tuesday. (8/26/08) After a few trips to the hospital she wanted to be sure that she wasn't just going to get sent home again. She suffered through the pain till around nine when she decided to head to the hospital. I met her there (she was at her Mom's and I was at home.) They checked her shortly after we got there and she was at a four. They said that they would keep her there if she was progressing after an hour. So we walked around the hospital for an hour even through the really tough contraptions. After an hour the checked again and she was at a five! We weren't going home without a baby this time! They moved her to a "birthing" room and she got her epidural promptly. This proved to be the most painful and uncomfortable part of the whole ordeal. The (needle doctor) tried and missed three times in the normal spot. Even with the local (numbing stuff) it was painful for the (needle doctor) to dig around Kelly's spine with that huge needle. He then moved to the next (back bone) up and found the right spot after just a little digging around. They then checked her again around 2:00 am and she was at an 8. It was almost time. At about 2:45 she was at a ten. Julie the Midwife got to the hospital about 3:00 am and suited up. There was also a student doctor there learning the ropes. She actually did the whole thing. When they were ready the student, Julie, broke Kelly's water and it exploded all over the bed and the wanna be doctor. It was pretty humorous. Then the nurse said, "you're having a construction, if you wanna push." So Kelly gave a good push and the Head started to show. Then on the second push, the head popped out. Then one more push and out came the whole body! It was easy and less than five minutes later the Baby was born.
Here's the stats for all you girls; 5 lbs 15 oz, 18 1/2 inches, 3:13 am, APGAR score of 9.9 which is super healthy. So all is good now. I'm waiting for the nursery to bring him back so I can give him his first bath. It's my favorite part cuz I get to be a Daddy. We'll probably even go home tomorrow if everything keeps going well.

So exciting, glad everything went well (except the epidural). Do you need suggestions for names? :)
